Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter Hotel at Bridgeworks

Mixed Use Hotel and Retail

Location: San Diego, California

Opened: 2000

Area: 282 rooms and 23,000 sq ft of retail and restaurants

S.D. Malkin Properties developed and owned the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter mixed-use project. The project is located in downtown San Diego and it was created as an innovative solution to connect San Diego’s national historic district, the Gaslamp Quarter, and the San Diego Convention Center.

The Project consisted of a 282 room, four star Hilton Hotel and 23,000 square feet of retail and restaurants; and it opened in 2000. S.D. Malkin Properties partnered with Apollo Real Estate Advisors and Interstate Hotels & Resorts to execute the development.

The Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter Hotel won local American Institute of Architects “Orchid” awards for both its architecture and its interior design, as well as a civic award from the downtown San Diego Partnership. The project triggered the redevelopment of the now popular Gaslamp Quarter.

The Hotel was sold to LaSalle Hotels in 2005 for a then record price per key for downtown San Diego.
