The Cable Lofts
Live/Work Space
Location: San Diego, California
Opened: 1997
Area: 37 lofts
S.D. Malkin Properties developed The Cable Lofts in the Hillcrest area of San Diego. The project opened in 1997 and at opening consisted of 37 SoHo-style loft residences totaling 74,000 square feet.
The Cable Lofts were created out of an abandoned 1950’s industrial building in an area of San Diego that was in transition. Prior to The Cable Lofts, the notion of converting derelict buildings into luxury residences was not well known in Southern California. The Cable Lofts project played an important role in transforming the Hillcrest community.
The Cable Lofts sold out within 12 months of completion at then record prices for the area. It continues to be a sought after address for upscale loft buyers.
